Pollinator Link Project – Mt Gravatt Showgrounds

Help rewild Mt Gravatt Showgrounds and create a stronger wildlife corridor between Mt Gravatt Reserve and Bulimba Creek.The Pollinator Link Project is working with the Mt Gravatt Showgrounds Trust and the local community to restore habitat within the Showgrounds. The project forms part of a broader effort to improve habitat connections for wildlife across the urban landscape.The Showgrounds project also provides an opportunity to demonstrate practical ways people can support wildlife in their own backyards by providing food, water and shelter.

Rewilding the Showgrounds

The project is working to establish native vegetation and improve habitat at the Showgrounds, contributing to a wildlife corridor linking Mt Gravatt Reserve with Bulimba Creek.

The group is also trialling different revegetation techniques to improve planting success, including using thick layers of cardboard and mulch for weed suppression and soil-conditioning products to support plant establishment. By restoring this site, the project aims to demonstrate how habitat can be progressively returned to urban areas and how similar approaches can be applied at home.
