Now in our 28th year, Bulimba Creek Catchment Coordinating Committee Inc. (B4C) was established in 1997 as a community-based catchment and Landcare group. We thrive thanks to our dedicated community of volunteers, members and partner organisations.
Our Vision
For the environment of the Bulimba Creek catchment to be protected, restored and maintained by a vibrant network of community organisations, coordinated and supported by B4C.
Our Mission
B4C is a community-based social enterprise that provides coordination, support and specialised ecological services to protect, restore and maintain the Bulimba Creek catchment. We work in partnership with our members and the wider community to build a connected web of green across the region.

How We Work
The ongoing sustainability of our organisation is underpinned by our Landcare Services Team, which operates as a not-for-profit social enterprise. We reinvest the majority of our profits back into environmental and community projects. Our team works at more than 100 sites across the catchment and beyond.
Our Sustainability Centre in Carindale—home to our native nursery and community garden—has become a thriving community hub, welcoming volunteers three days a week.
We coordinate over 50 events each year and contribute to more than 100 community and corporate events, including:
Bushcare and revegetation activities
Workshops for kids and families
Guided walks and catchment meetings
Corporate volunteering and team-building days
B4C delivers a wide range of environmental initiatives, including bush regeneration, education programs, and strategic land management. We proudly launched the region’s first Industrial Landcare Project, demonstrating the potential for industry and community to work together for positive environmental outcomes—even in industrial areas. Bulimba Creek Environment Fund and Nature Refuges
B4C owns and manages two key Nature Refuge properties:
Mount Elliot
Mount Barney–Yamahra Creek
These refuges are located along important biodiversity corridors that connect Bulimba Creek to the World Heritage-listed Border Ranges and provide refuge to quolls, greater gliders, brush-tailed rock wallabies and significant numbers of rare plant species. Funding from the Bulimba Creek Environment Fund supports weed control, fire trail maintenance, and assistance to neighbouring landholders to strengthen landscape resilience.
In addition to these two refuges, B4C holds leases or permits for three other strategic Landcare sites within the catchment. These include two significant industrial rehabilitation areas:
Gibson Island, leased from the Department of Natural Resources
The Oxbow, near the Doboy Wetlands and adjacent industrial land
Additionally, we lease our Sustainability Centre, serving as both our headquarters and an outdoor education hub, from Powerlink.
Donations to the Bulimba Creek Environment Fund help support a range of initiatives, from endangered species surveys and youth engagement through Intrepid Landcare, to weed management, revegetation, and restoration at sites like Mount Elliot, Gibson Island, and the Oxbow Wetlands. These efforts strengthen habitat corridors, protect biodiversity, and build community capacity across both urban and remote landscapes.
