B4C’s Industrial Landcare program brings together industry, community and environmental organisations to restore and improve habitat within or adjacent to industrial and commercial areas.

Industrial precincts often contain waterways, wetlands, remnant vegetation and important wildlife corridors. These areas can also be affected by invasive weeds, litter, polluted runoff and historical disturbance. Industrial Landcare provides a practical way for businesses and the community to help rehabilitate these areas and improve their environmental value.

Industrial Landcare at Gibson Island

B4C established its Industrial Landcare program at Gibson Island in 2018, working with local industries, volunteers and project partners to restore degraded areas within this important industrial precinct.

Since 2018, the program has delivered:

  • More than 30 Industrial Landcare events

  • More than 10,000 native plants

  • Over 3,000 volunteer hours

  • Weed control and removal of accumulated litter and waste

  • Restoration of habitat and vegetation along Bulimba Creek and the Brisbane River

  • Ongoing monitoring and maintenance of rehabilitated areas

The project demonstrates how industry and community involvement can contribute to healthier waterways, improved wildlife habitat and better environmental outcomes within working industrial areas.

Why Get Involved?

Industrial Landcare provides businesses with a practical way to contribute to environmental restoration in the areas where they operate.

Participation can help build stronger relationships between industry and the local community, provide meaningful corporate volunteering opportunities and demonstrate a genuine commitment to environmental responsibility.

Corporate planting days, clean-ups and restoration activities also give employees an opportunity to work together outside the workplace while learning more about local waterways, native plants and wildlife.

Most importantly, participation contributes directly to restoring habitat, improving waterway health and strengthening ecological connections across the landscape.

Become an Industrial Landcare Partner

There are several ways businesses and organisations can become involved:

  • Sponsor an Industrial Landcare project – provide financial support towards site preparation, plants, weed control, rehabilitation and ongoing maintenance.

  • Sponsor an event – support the delivery of a community or corporate planting, clean-up or restoration activity.

  • Organise a corporate volunteering day – involve your team in planting, Bushcare, weed control or litter collection.

  • Nominate a site – talk to B4C about an industrial or commercial property that may benefit from environmental rehabilitation, subject to landholder and relevant authority approvals.

  • Engage B4C Landscape Services – B4C can provide professional weed control, revegetation, restoration, maintenance and other ecological land management services.

Industrial Landcare Sponsorship

Successful revegetation involves much more than planting trees.Before planting can begin, sites may require extensive weed control, rubbish removal, site preparation and planning. Once plants are established, ongoing maintenance is essential to control weeds and give new vegetation the best chance of survival.Financial support allows B4C to dedicate the people, plants, equipment and resources required to deliver quality rehabilitation and maintain sites over time.Sponsorship can support individual events or contribute to longer-term restoration projects.
