Corporate Volunteering

Team building with a difference!

What is Corporate Volunteering?

Corporate volunteering offers significant benefits for employees, companies, and the community. Employees get the chance to meet new people, face new challenges, and develop their skills, which can lead to better job satisfaction and personal growth. For companies, these programs build loyalty, boost morale, and improve their public image, which helps with hiring and keeping staff. For the community, corporate volunteering brings in a variety of volunteers and skills, enhancing service delivery and raising awareness about important issues. It also creates strong partnerships and strengthens the bond between businesses, non-profits, and local volunteer groups.

Corporate Volunteering at B4C

At Bulimba Creek Catchment Coordinating Committee (B4C), we offer volunteering opportunities that foster camaraderie while making a tangible impact on the environment and community. We provide various volunteer options, each with different fees to cover costs like insurance, administration, and supervision by qualified experts.

Benefits of Corporate Volunteering with B4C

  • Team Building in Nature: Our hands-on bush regeneration activities promote teamwork, trust-building, and effective communication outside the office setting.

  • Corporate Social Responsibility: Demonstrate your company's commitment to social responsibility and environmental sustainability.

  • Well-being and Morale: Outdoor activities offer a refreshing break from the office, reducing stress and improving mental health.

  • Educational Opportunities: Learn about local ecosystems, sustainable land management practices, and environmental issues.

Corporate Volunteering Opportunities with B4C

  • Corporate Bushcare: Bushcare is vital for the health of our bushland, involving the removal of invasive species to allow native plants and biodiversity to flourish. This activity can be paired with a bushwalk, a citizen science bioblitz survey, or water testing.

  • Plant Propagation and Sustainability Centre Tour at B4C: At our nursery, we propagate local native plant species for use in bushcare sites throughout the catchment. This activity is also an opportunity for participants to learn propagating techniques and local flora. The session can be followed by a tour of our Sustainability Centre, featuring water-wise gardens, a fern house, native bee hives, frog ponds, a bush food garden, heritage chickens, and worm farms.

  • Fauna/Bioblitz/Tree Hollow Surveys: Explore local natural areas with your team, recording and observing diverse flora and fauna. This citizen science effort not only connects your team with nature but also supports ecological research.

  • Corporate Clean-ups: Our clean-ups help prevent plastic pollution and other harmful debris from entering our waterways. By removing plastics, we protect marine life from entanglement, ingestion, and contamination, ensuring healthier ecosystems.

  • Corporate Plantings: Join us in regenerating local ecosystems by planting native trees, shrubs, and bushes to strengthen wildlife corridors. While planting is rewarding, it requires ongoing care beyond the initial event. B4C manages site preparation—including weed removal and soil preparation—as well as post-planting maintenance like watering for eight months to ensure plant survival. This comprehensive care makes this option more costly than others, and this is reflected in the price. In some cases, funding may already cover site preparation and maintenance, leaving just the planting to be done. Please inquire about available sites, and we'll accommodate your needs as best we can.

  • Water Sampling and Testing: Join our experts in collecting and analysing water samples, including using water bugs as an indicator of waterway health. This activity contributes to important research on water quality in our local ecosystems, offering a hands-on experience in environmental science.
