We welcome volunteers of all backgrounds, interests, and abilities. Whether you’re looking to get your hands dirty in the garden, join a bushcare group, help at events, or sew for a cause—there’s something for everyone!

Native Plant Nursery & Community Garden
Native Plant Nursery
Our nursery is entirely volunteer-run. Volunteers are welcome to participate in every stage of plant production—from seed collection and germination to potting and weeding. Many choose to specialise in the areas they most enjoy, all while learning about native species and their role in our ecosystems.
Community Garden
Our garden reflects the passions of our volunteers. It’s home to projects that promote biodiversity, learning and wellbeing—including a native fern garden, bush tucker beds, frog and native fish ponds, and veggie patches. If you love gardening, wildlife or creative outdoor projects, we’d love to have you join us.
Volunteer days and times are Tuesday and Wednesday from 7:30am to 2:00pm, and Friday from 7:30am to 12:00 noon. Volunteers are welcome to attend on the days and for the hours that suit them — there is no expectation to attend every session or stay for the full duration. For example, some volunteers join us after school drop-off.
Bushcare & Habitat Brisbane Groups
B4C supports more than 20 local bushcare groups as part of Brisbane City Council’s Habitat Brisbane program. The program encourages hands-on conservation, supports local biodiversity, and helps build greener suburbs. To learn more or find a group near you, click here.
Oxbow Wetlands with CVA
Located in Hemmant, the Oxbow is a 30-hectare conservation site restored by B4C. Once a degraded and polluted site, it’s now a thriving brackish and freshwater wetland.
We now work in partnership with Conservation Volunteers Australia (CVA) to continue habitat restoration and weed management at this important site. The team meets every second Wednesday from 9am–11am.

Our incredible Sewing at B4C volunteers—Christine, Fiona C, Josephine, Jody, Susana, and Jenny—work their magic by transforming pre-loved, excess, and leftover textiles into beautiful, one-of-a-kind creations! Their efforts directly support environment and community initiatives through the B4C Environment Fund.
The group is looking for volunteers with a passion for sewing and their own machine to join them. Sewing at B4C usually meets on Thursday mornings. Interested marketing volunteers can either join the group on Thursday mornings or volunteer at a time that suits them.
