Wishart Outlook Bushland Care Group

Where: Wishart Outlook

When: 3pm, 3rd Saturday of each month

A bit about us
Our bushland habitat is on the Eight Mile Plains side of Bulimba Creek, which adjoins the Wishart Community Park Habitat Group. We have twelve zones which we work in, stretching from Holmead Caravan Park (Logan Rd) to near the BCC Bus Station, Miles Platting Road (Vanderbilt Street area). It is an area that receives some flooding and requires much bushcare to restore it to its original condition. The native vegetation in the area has been strangled by vines and invasive, introduced garden which which create havoc for our natives. However, restoring it and strengthening the area as a biodiverse habitat is possible with a little perseverance and a lot of follow-up, and we have already shown that a lot can be achieved in a short space of time.

We are listed as starting 3pm on the 3rd Saturday of each month, however we are also flexible in responding to the needs of members and other participants, and therefore change between morning and afternoon working bees as necessary. Our working bees are open for anyone to join, and are able to be divided for those who prefer lighter work and those who are vigorous achievers/ want to feel sore at the end of the day.

Kate Flink is our present BCC representative in charge of Eastern Habitat Groups, and we are also assisted by Bulimba Creek Catchment Coordinating Committee.
