Did You Know This?
Comparison of greenspace in public ownership:
Sydney ("Sin City", can't play rugby, BUT...) has 44% public-owned greenspace!
Hong Kong (great shopping city before the dollar turned into a rupee) has 40% greenspace.
Brisbane (in "the Smart State", "the Creative City") has just 16% greenspace, most of it targetted for roads, powerlines, sewerage and golf courses ~ unless we can turn it around!
Infrastructure in Our Catchment
"I just want to know one thing: what is it?" Infrastructure refers to major construction projects, for example: major roads, bridges, power lines and substations.
Like the Powerlink high voltage lines ~ coming all the way from the Gold Coast and right up the greenspace corridor of Bulimba Creek -- infrastructure has the potential for serious impact on the health of a catchment. In our region, it is also targetting the best of our Conservation Bush Reserves: Karawatha Forest, Belmont Hills, Koala Bushlands, Minnippi Parklands. Keep informed and let your government know your concern.
