B4C's field workers undertake important rehabilitation and ecosystem maintenance work around the catchment - restoring degraded waterways & bushland areas, ensuring that gains that have been made in the past are maintained, and assisting with the survival of critical corridor links and habitats.
When bushland is protected, or an area is rehabilitated, it can take 10 or more years for an ecosystem to maintain itself and suppress the re-emergence of weeds. While B4C undertakes paid contract work to restore bushland or waterways, in many cases funding for sites will only last 1-3 years, leaving a significant funding gap. The field staff and volunteers of Bulimba Creek Catchment play an increasingly important role in filling this gap, with B4C providing funds for supervision and materials.
